Sheriff Looking For Gunman Who Shot Another In Leg

The Chattooga County Sheriff’s office is looking for a man involved in a non-fatal shooting early Saturday morning.

Sheriff Mark Schrader released a statement:

On Saturday morning, March 31, at approximately 6:10 a.m. 911 received a call reporting that a male had been shot in the leg by another person. The investigation revealed that the caller, Jonathan Taylor Verdon, of an Alabama address was visiting his girlfriend on Hwy 157 this morning when a vehicle pulled into the drive and began racing the engine and the occupant began yelling. The vehicle left and Verdon got into his girlfriends car and proceeded to chase the other vehicle. The first vehicle then stopped in the roadway near Mt. Olive church on Hwy 157, Verdon also stopped and proceeded to go up to the window of the first vehicle. A firearm was produced and the two began to struggle through the window. Several shots were fired and Verdon retreated to his vehicle when a shot was fired that struck him in the calf area of his leg. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released at a later time. Verdon identified the other individual but he has not been located at the time of this release.
