2-year-old And Mom Fall Out Of Moving Truck
A 2-year-old toddler and its mother fell from a moving truck at the intersection of Hwy. 48 and Lyerly Street, according to a Summerville Police report.
Ray Marvin Caldwell Jr., was driving his tan 1989 Ford Ranger truck on Lyerly Street when he approached the intersection at 3:40 p.m. Friday.
“Mr. Caldwell then attempted to make a left turn from Lyerly Street onto Hwy. 48 when the passenger side door of his truck came open ejecting his wife Tonya Caldwell and their 2-year-old daughter. . .” according to Police Officer Lt. Tim Fulmer.
They both fell onto the pavement, according to a report. Mrs. Caldwell had visible pavement burns on her right foot, right leg and face. The small child was uninjured, according to Lt. Fulmer.
“Later reports from family members indicated that Ms. Caldwell was transported by them to the hospital for further treatment,” Lt. Fulmer reported.
Mr. Caldwell was cited for a child safety seat violation, according to the police report.
