Claire Downes

Claire Downes beloved Mama, Grandma, Wife and friend to everyone she met, was called home March 17, 2018, surrounded by family. Born in Bradenton, FL August 4, 1944 to Frank and Bertha Phillips, Claire made her home and raised her beloved girls in Summerville , where she also was a Paramedic, drove a schoolbus and ran a farm.. She spent the last 28 years of her life in Citra FL,, where she continued to care for others as a cardiac care nurse at Munroe Regional Hospital. Her greatest joys were her three daughters (plus one shared daughter) “the girls”, her precious grandchildren, her animals and her yard & flower gardens.
Claire is lovingly remembered and survived by her husband, Glenn Downes, Summerville; her daughters, Chrissie Downes of Hayesville, NC,, Laurel Doster, of Cartersville, GA., Cindy Young,of Ocala, FL and “borrowed” daughter, Caroline Camp Harris, Summerville, GA. Grandchildren, Luke Wiegold of Hayesville, NC, Noah, Wyatt and Ian Westerfield of Cartersville, GA,, Justin and Emily Young of Ocala, FL and borrowed grandchild, Marti Green of Summerville. She was preceded in death by a precious grandson, Evan Young.
Memorial services were held Monday, March 19, 2018 at Countryside Funeral Home in Anthony, FL.
