Dedra Ann Kever Strickland

Mrs. Dedra Ann Kever Strickland, age 73 of Summerville, GA took her first step into Heaven and met her Savior face to face Sunday- April 29, 2018 at National Healthcare Center of Rossville.

Dedra was born September 6, 1944 in Tallassee, FL to the late Major Luther Davis and Dorothy Inez Kyle Kever of Hosford, FL. She attended Chipola Junior College receiving an Associates of Arts degree and then transferred to the University of Florida to pursue a degree in Occupational Therapy.

She was married to the late Kenneth H. Strickland on August 2, 1969 at the Methodist Church in Telogia, FL. On October 20, 1970 she accepted Christ as her Savior at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Fort Myers, FL. In 1979 Ken and Dedra moved to Chattanooga, TN where Ken attended Tennessee Temple University. The couple operated the bus ministry for Highland Park Baptist Church. In 1982 they joined Lakewood Baptist Church Chapel in Harrison, TN where Dedra sang in the choir, lead the Born Again Seniors in Christ services, taught the Faithful Sunday School Class, and visited the shut-ins. In 2005 they moved to Summerville, GA and in 2011 joined New Haven Baptist Church. After Ken’s passing in 2016, Dedra taught the Ladies Sunday School Class and visited with the Ladies Sunshine Group for shut-ins and special needs.

Dedra had a love for God’s creation and the beauty in it, especially his birds. Her favorite was the Cardinal and the hummingbird. She would have as many as 30 at a time at her feeders. She also enjoyed working on various crafts, helping her husband build and paint birdhouses, and doing wood carvings and drawings. She was an avid reader and lover of God’s word and working on various studies, Sunday school lessons, and devotions.

Dedra is survived by her sons; Kenneth Andrew Strickland and Daniel Hugh Strickland, and her grandchild; Kaedee Joy Strickland.
