The 2018 Chattooga Indians track team carried eight athletes into sectionals on Saturday with five advancing on to State in Albany on May 10-12.
For the girls, Ziyah Underwood qualified in the long jump, high jump, 400m and 4×400 relay. Kennedy Martin qualified in long jump and 4×400 relay. Faith Ann Foster and Taylor Melton qualified in the 4×400. For the boys, Jamarious Mosteller was the lone qualifier for state. He will compete in three events: triple jump, long jump and 400m.
“Jamarious is still ranked #1 in the triple jump in the state,” Coach Renee Beasley said after sectionals. “He qualified in 3 of 3 of his events on the day. Ziyah Underwood also qualified in 4 of 4 of her events. The girls 4×400 relay team was fourth at sectionals and shaved off 12 seconds from their region time. They all continue to work hard and improve each week. I’m really proud of them all.”
