Officer Shoots Bulldog Saturday
A Summerville Police officer said he had to shoot a bulldog that was struck by a vehicle Saturday evening.
The dog was struck in front of the Pine Hill Apartments on Northwest Congress. It was a fatal wound and Officer David Westbrooks shot the dog to put it out of its pain.
“The animal was unable to move or get up. The dog was bleeding from its mouth, nose and left eye,” Officer Westbrooks reported. “The injuries the dog had received due to being hit by the vehicle was obviously fatal and to keep the animal from suffering anymore [I] placed one shot from [my] service weapon [into the dog]. . .”
The dog’s owner was at the scene and said they would make arrangements to have the animal properly disposed of, the officer reported.
