False Alarms Still Sounding At High Rise

Ask a Summerville fireman the address to the McGinnis High Rise complex and they’ll likely have it memorized because they are called there so much.

The number of false alarms continues to escalate at 215 Marvin Avenue. This week fire personnel were called twice to the same apartment, according to a Summerville Police report.

“The first time the subject was burning incense  . . .” Policeman David Westbrooks stated.

The second time the alarm sounded, firemen could not locate a cause. The high rise continues to generate many false alarms for emergency responders.

A remodeling project at the high rise that relocated vent hoods on cooking ranges and a new fire alarm system are being blamed.
