James Harold Bigham

Mr. James Harold Bigham, age 75, of Dalton, GA, departed this life, Thursday May 17, 2018 at Chatsworth Health Care with his daughters at his bedside.

James was born on March 30, 1943 in Copperhill, Tennessee, a son of the late Alec Leeander and Jewel B. Ledford Bigham.  Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Betty Ruth Edwards Bigham, who passed away on January 27, 2018; brothers, Bobby Bigham and Clarence “Pud” Bigham; sister, Wilma Sutton.; brother-in-law, Charles Cutwright; He was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church in Dalton, GA.  He was always a hard-working man who never met a stranger in life.  He would do anything he could to help another person out in life.  James was an avid gardener, and loved driving his tractor to tend to his garden.  He was very fond of Chicken flavored crackers from the Dollar Tree and Diet K Cola from Kroger.

James is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Jackie Huggins, Beth and Tim Bryson, and Lisa and Kenneth Drain all of Dalton, GA.; a brother-in-law who was like a son to him, James Edwards of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Nathan Huggins, Amber and Michael Coleman, Brittany Drain, Curtis Drain, and Jessica Bryson; great-grandchildren, Logan Huggins, Sophia Duquett, and Peyton Huggins; brother and sister-in-law, Jane Bigham of Calhoun, GA, and Gerald Bigham of Dalton, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Vineyard Newman of Dalton, GA, Betty Sue and Lawrence Lavine of Ringgold, GA, Alma Jean and Bill Smith of Summerville, GA, Thelma Cutwright of Medina, Ohio, Brenda Francis of GA; a host of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, family members and friends also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of James Bigham will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. from the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverends Tony Robertson and George Ashburn officiating.  James will be laid to rest at Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park with Tim Bryson, Kenneth Drain, Nathan Huggins, and others honored to serve as pallbearers.

Friends may visit with the Bigham family on Sunday, between the hours of 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM at Ponders Melrose Chapel.
