Trion Mayor Hires New Rec Director

Trion Mayor Larry Stansell told The News on Thursday that veteran town employee Rusty Brown has been hired as the town’s new recreation director.

Brown, who has worked for the rec department in the past, has been more recently working in town’s maintenance department. Stansell said he had the OK of the town council to make the hire, but the council has not voted on the matter publicly.

The town’s charter calls for the “express approval” of the council. Stansell told The News he believed he had that approval. Brown will replace Nolan Crisp, who announced his retirement last week.
