Corvette To Race Airplane On Saturday

[ROME, GEORGIA, May 31, 2018—] The Museum of Flight has a great schedule of activities for their
annual Hangar Open House on Saturday, June 2nd from 10 AM to 4 PM. The event has activities for the entire family.
Home Depot is sponsoring a Kid’s Build in the hangar, and there will be special aerial activities throughout the
day, such as Thrust vs Torque, in which a Silver Anniversary Corvette races an airplane. In addition to the
historic aircraft, a variety of military vehicles will also be on display.
The Exchange Club of Rome’s Tomb of the Unknown Replica will be on exhibit this year, and there will be
special guest speakers, such as WWII P-51 pilot, Jim McCubbin and Jane Tucker of the Rosie the
Riveter Association. Mr. Ken Suffridge, Former Narrator for the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation “Sky
Soldiers”, who will be there giving rides in their Vietnam era “Cobra” and “Huey” helicopters, and former Mayor
of Aragon will be our Master of Ceremonies.
Civilian helicopter rides will be available for purchase at the event, and special AH-1 COBRA and UH-1 Huey
military helicopter rides are available for purchase now and at the event. Please call 423-228-2FLY (2359) for
information. Food, business, and crafts vendors will be on hand as well.

Admission to the event is free, but donations are welcome.
