Robert Eugene Stowe
Mr. Robert E. “Mr. Bob” Stowe, age 86 of Summerville, passed away Wednesday, May 30, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Stowe, known to children as “Paw Paw Bob”, and to adults as “Mr. Bob” was born in Trion, Georgia on November 29, 1931, son of the late Thomas Franklin Stowe and Mary B. Thomas Stowe. Mr. Stowe was a Veteran of the Koren War, serving in the United States Air Force, was a member of the Dry Valley Baptist Church where he loved to sing and play his guitar, and was retired from the Weave Room at Mt. Vernon Mills.. It has been said that he was a Weaver because he had to and played music because he wanted to. In addition to his love for music, he enjoyed baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves, and Art. He enjoyed making and sending homemade cards and letters to others showing his art skills and his unique use of words. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carleen Stowe; a sister, Dixie Stowe Woods; and brothers, Thomas Stowe, Raymond Stowe, Russell Stowe and Frank Stowe, Jr.
Mr. Stowe is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Frank Johnston; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Elaine Stowe; “Special Daughter and great grandchild, Haley (Patrick) Shaver; grandchildren, Jeff Thomas, Jeremy (Missy) Thomas, Heather (Jeff) Coley, Justin (Samantha) Stowe, and Morgan (Bonnie) Stowe; great grandchildren, April (Kasey) Shaver, Jessica Vaughn, Emily Saine, Jacob Thomas, Jared White, Lexie Coley, Peyton Stowe, Lily Flood, Blayke Stowe, Jaxon Stowe, Claire Stowe, Brody Stowe, Raven Stowe and Adlee Stowe; great great grandchildren, Lydon Shaver, Emarie King, Harper Shaver and Tyler Vaughn; Special friends, Jerry and Debbie Tucker and Carol Stowe; numerous nieces and nephews and his Dry Valley Church Family.
Funeral Services for Mr. Stowe will be held Friday, June 1, 2018 at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Duvall officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery with the United States Air Force conducting Military Graveside Honors.
Pallbearers will be Justin Stowe, Morgan Stowe, Aaron Woods, Christian Proctor, Brannon Martin, Brian Johnston, Jacob Thomas, Jeff Coley and Patrick Shaver. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeff Thomas, Jeremy Thomas and nephews and great nephews.
Mr. Stowe will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 2:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
