Deputy Also Finds Meth On Alleged Shoplifter

A Chattooga County Deputy found meth and a glass pipe on a man accused of stealing items from Walmart Wednesday morning.

Deputy Rebecca Farmer was called to Walmart around 9 a.m. when an employee spotted 43-year-old Martin Kevin Howard, of Trion, trying to swindle the store.

She advised that Kevin Howard had been observed selecting items and then concealing them on his person. She
further advised that Mr. Howard went to the self-checkout where he scanned paint for .97 instead of the true value of $12.97 while purchasing other items,” Deputy Farmer stated.

A store employee called 911 and Deputy Farmer arrived. She searched Howard and found the meth in a black metal pill vial, according to an incident report.

Howard was charged with shoplifting, possession of meth and possession of drug-related objects, according to jail reports.
