Shoplifter Tries Taking Flip-Flops

A 36-year-old Trion woman is accused of shoplifting a pair of flip-flops from Walmart on Wednesday, according to Chattooga County Sheriff’s reports.

A Walmart employee allegedly saw Whitney Matijiw removing the tags from a pair of flip-flops.

She further advised that Mrs. Matijiw then took tags off flip-flops that where .98 cents. [The Walmart employee] stated that Mrs. Matijiw went to the self-checkout and used the .98 tags to scan in place of the other merchandise. Mrs. Matijiw then left the store, passing all points of sale without paying for the correct flip-flops which were valued at $19.76,” Deputy Rebecca Farmer reported.
