Clerk And Citizen Chase Shoplifter

A convenience store clerk and a citizen chased a shoplifter down the road yesterday, according to Chattooga County Sheriff’s reports.

A white male, 150-pounds, wearing blue jeans and carrying a blue shirt, walked into the Chevron gas station at 12499 Hwy. 27 and grabbed a 12-pack of Bud Light. The man “quickly” left without paying for it around 6:45 p.m.

The clerk, Savannah Ramey, took off after the man. Then a customer, Mark Halloway, pulled up and saw the chase and tried helping too.

Mr. Halloway advised he had pulled up to the Chevron and observed a woman chasing a male subject who was running with a 12 pack of beer. He advised that he took up
the chase until he lost the subject,” Deputy Thomas Sainthill stated.

Deputies checked the area but could not find the shoplifter.
