Man Drives Around Town In Smoking Pickup

With heavy smoke coming out from underneath a truck and limbs sticking out, Chattooga County motorists were concerned about one 75-year-old driver, according to Summerville Police reports.

Jack Phillip Deliddo drove his white pickup around town while it was damaged.

“The vehicle had significant damage to the right front and had large pieces of a tree sticking out from it,” Officer David Westbrooks said.

The smoke was so severe that some thought the truck was on fire.

“The driver, who appeared intoxicated, stated that he was just trying to make it home and did not know the truck was damaged or where it could have happened,” Officer Westbrooks stated.

Cops traced the debris field left behind from fluids leaking out of the truck and discovered that Deliddo had crashed into a tree near the entrance of Walmart in Pennville.

Deliddo was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants, according to jail reports.
