Art Exhibit by local artist at Paradise Garden Visitors Center
The Visitors Center at Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden will have artwork on display by Summerville’s Donnie Davis, now through September 1.
Davis’ current collection is comprised of a series of paintings depicting various scenes in and around Paradise Garden.
Born and raised in Chattooga County, Davis left Summerville as a teenager with the US Navy. After serving many years and traveling around the world, he returned to Georgia to earn a degree in Drawing and Painting at Georgia State University and eventually made his way back to his hometown. You can find Davis’s paintings all around Summerville, including one of the decorative Coca-cola bottles that line the downtown streets, and inside Jeffersons, as well as other businesses around town. A longtime employee of Paradise Garden, he also teaches painting classes for adults there, with the next one coming up July 25, 7pm-9pm. Be sure to come by Paradise Garden this summer to view Davis’s latest works, and maybe he will even let you take one home. Paradise Garden is open Tuesday-Sunday, 11am-5pm.
