Pedestrian Attacked By Passing Motorist
A man walking down the road said he was assaulted by a passing motorist on July 1, according to Chattooga County Sheriff’s reports.
Terry Payne said he was walking on Old Justice Road around 5:30 a.m. when a burgundy Jeep Cherokee stopped in front of him. A man got out of the vehicle and “punched him several times in the mouth,” according to Deputy Rebecca Farmer. “Mr. Payne stated that he had to go to Floyd Medical Center to have stitches in his lip and also complained of problems with his teeth.”
The driver of the Jeep was not arrested.
