Counterfeit Money Circulating Around Town

Someone paid a local retail store with a fake $100 bill last Thursday, according to Summerville Police Department reports.

The manager of Auto Zone discovered the bogus bill while counting the day’s cash.

“The manager asked but did not know which employee took it or what time the fake bill was taken. The manager just knows it was passed and taken as a real bill sometime during normal business hours and placed in the petty cash safe. The manager does not believe any of his employees took the bill on purpose or was in anyway involved in the incident. The fake bill clearly reads, ‘For motion picture use only,'” Summerville Policeman Wendell Flood reported.
