Cop Applies Brakes To Avoid Hitting Pedestrian
An intoxicated man walked into the path of a moving Summerville Patrol car in front of Chattooga High School around 8:05 a.m. Friday, according to Summerville Police records.
Officer Matthew Wilson was patrolling Hwy. 114 when 36-year-old Robert Reynolds, of Summerville, stepped into the highway.
“I had to apply my brakes to avoid striking him in my path of travel,” Officer Wilson said.
The officer stopped and talked with Reynolds, who appeared intoxicated and smelled of alcohol.
“Mr. Reynold voluntarily admitted to consuming an amount of liquor [that morning] and voluntarily admitted he had consumed alcoholic beverages on the previous night,” Officer Wilson stated.
Reynolds was arrested for pedestrian under the influence of intoxicants, according to reports.
