Lois Davis Harden

Lois Davis Harden, age 100, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
 
Mrs. Harden was born in Avon Park, Florida on April 11, 1918, daughter of the late Samuel Judson Davis and Reecy Ann Smith Davis. She was the owner and operator of the Sandra Dress Shop in Florida, moving to Summerville following her retirement in 1977. She was an active member of the Pennville First Baptist Church and was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. Mrs. Harden maintained her skills as a seamstress and was very talented in sewing and needlework. She was also an avid birdwatcher. Mrs. Harden was preceded in death by two brothers and a sisters-in-law, Glen Davis and Helen Rae Davis, and Hugh and Ruth Davis; and her son-in-law, James E. Hammond.
 
Mrs. Harden is survived by her daughter, Sandra Hammond of Summerville; grandchildren and their spouses, James Todd and Bonnie Hammond, Ringgold; daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy & Steve Mitchell, and Carla & Clay Skognes of Cumming, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Megan Mitchell, Emily Mitchell, Anna Skognes, Sarah Skognes and Madelyn Skognes; and a number of nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral Services for Mrs. Harden will be held Thursday, August30, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in the Pennville First Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Tanner officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.
 
Pallbearers will be Rex Evans, Robert Williams, Reo Rabon and Michael Davis. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Pennville First Baptist Church.
 
Mrs. Harden will lie in state at the Pennville First Baptist Church, where the family will receive friends Thursday, from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service.
