Man Stole Safe With $8,000 Cash Inside It

A Lyerly man has been arrested for stealing a safe containing $8,000 in cash, a title to a 1994 Chevrolet truck and the title to a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle, according to Summerville Police reports.

Charles Noles called police Thursday afternoon when he discovered that someone had taken a black safe from his bedroom closet.

“Mr. Noles advised me that his son Tyler Noles had called him and stated that he come by his house and that the back door was open,” Officer Lebron Jackson stated.

The case was turned over to Summerville Police Detective Ty Hutchins. The detective connected the burglary to 23-year-old Derek Tyler Noles, of Price Bridge Road. He was charged with first-degree burglary, according to jail reports.

“We have recovered some of the cash and most of the documents that were in the safe,” Det. Hutchins said Friday.
