Property Tax Bills Are Arriving In Local Mailboxes

The 2018 Chattooga County property taxes have started arriving in local mailboxes.

“I wanted to let you all know that I’m planning to do the same as last year, with a little extra: Since the due date is December 1st and it falls on a Saturday, I will be collecting taxes on the sidewalk on the Friday before. Taxes received on Monday the 3rd will not accrue interest and penalties,” Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton stated. “Also this year, since a lot of folks like to pay when they receive their bills, I’ll be outside this Friday, September 14th to take payments curb-side from anyone who finds it difficult to walk inside. Just pull up and waive, and I will come out to meet you I truly am honored to be able to help our citizens whenever I can.”
