Thief Targets Summerville Church
Someone broke into a Summerville church and stole $1,100 worth of items last week, according to a Chattooga County Sheriff’s report.
Pastor Gary Wells noticed two guitars missing and a collection box missing from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Saturday.
“The first guitar taken belonged to Mr. Roy Wells. It was a Alverez model 5023. The guitar is described
as being a six string flat top, strung right-handed The color is described as blond wood for the main
body and rosewood backing,” Deputy Wendell Flood reported. ”
The second guitar was a Martin model D-28. It’s a six-string flattop.
“A blue box was also taken. The box was used for the church’s missionary collection. The pastor
believes the box contained between $25-$75. The box was a wooden box painted blue, about 10 inches long by 6 inches wide. The top of the box had a small slit cut into it to allow money to be placed inside. The top of the box was also hinged at the back to allow it to open up, so the money could be retrieved at some point,” the deputy stated.
