Mr. Franklin Delano Woods, age 80, of Summerville, GA, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Woods was born January 20, 1938, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Oscar Grady and Dixie Leah Stowe Woods. He was a member of Dry Valley Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, worked in insurance sales and owned his own furniture store. Mr. Woods played guitar at church all of his adult life and played with The Gospel Brass group for 10 years. He was also a member of the Coastal States Life Honor Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dena Iretha Woods; and a sister-in-law, Eva Nell Woods.
Mr. Woods is survived by his wife, Ann Bailey Woods; daughters and sons-in-law, Kerry and Roger Wood, Misty and Mike Taylor, Melissa and Darryl Payton, Penny and Matt Ammons; step-children, Gary and Kathy Brown, William Rider, Pat Lynch, and Tony Brown; brothers and sister-in-law, Roy Woods, Ricky and Judy Woods; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Neal Cordell; 6 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Woods will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, December 9, 2018, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Duvall and Rev. Jimmy Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mike Woods, Gary Woods, Todd Woods, Steve Woods, Collin Woods, and Kevin Woods. Honorary pallbearers will be the Musicians of Dry Valley Baptist Church, the Men’s Sunday School Class of Dry Valley Baptist Church, Kenneth Stowe, and George Coffia.
Mr. Woods will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Saturday.
