Serial Catalytic Converter Bandit Strikes Again
A problem is growing in Chattooga County. Catalytic converters are coming up missing on vehicles, according to sheriff reports.
Ashley Wright, of West Spring Creek Road, is the fourth victim within the last couple of months.
“She advised that when she drove up the driveway, she noticed something hanging down under the Jeep she keeps parked in the driveway. I did observe the muffler hanging down and she advised her neighbor told her the catalytic converter had been cut off,” Deputy Rebecca Farmer stated.
The first reported converter missing was in October. Someone stole one off a 2010 GMC Sierra Z71 that was parked at 9631 Hwy. 100. A second theft happened on Nov. 17 when a local woman parked her Ford Focus on the side of the road near Mountain View Road and Hwy. 27. The third theft happened at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Someone stole the catalytic converter off a church van.
