Falling Credit Score Alerts Local To Fraud

A Lyerly resident was alerted by BB&T bank that his credit score was falling and something might be wrong, according to Chattooga County Sheriff’s reports.

Once learning about his credit decline, Dale Williams and his wife contacted the credit score company, Experian, and asked about his credit history. Experian said the reason for the decline was that someone opened an Amazon account in his name three years ago and ran up a $353 bill in his name.

Mr. Williams told me that he had never opened an Amazon account and needed to file a report to turn into the credit bureau to dispute the account,” Sheriff’s Investigator B.J. Montgomery stated.
