Speeding Ticket Turns Into Felony Marijuana Arrest

Stopping a speeding motorist resulted in Summerville Police Officer Lebron Jackson finding a felony amount of marijuana in the early morning hours Saturday, according to an incident report.

The officer stopped a black 2004 Ford Focus on Commerce Street because it was speeding. While talking with the driver, 18-year-old Deoven Price, of Summerville, the officer noticed a strong smell of marijuana.

“I advised Mr. Price of the smell and asked him if he had any in the vehicle. Mr. Price stated yes that he had just gone to a location in Floyd County and purchased over an ounce of marijuana. Mr. Price stated that he was going to sell some of the marijuana to make some of his money back,” Officer Jackson stated.

Price was arrested for possession of more than an ounce of marijuana, according to jail reports.
