Savannah Estelle “Pug” Brown McWhorter

Mrs. Savannah Estelle “Pug” Brown McWhorter, age 90 of Trion, GA passed away Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. McWhorter was born in Rome, Georgia on December 13, 1928, daughter of the late Lonnie Taylor Vann and Elsie Rebecca Trammell Vann. She was a member of the Waterville Baptist Church and was retired from the weave room at Mt. Vernon Mills. She loved to shop, go to Trade Day and yard sales and eat out, but the thing that gave her most joy was spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McWhorter was preceded in death by brothers, Sidney Vann, Norton Vann and twins Tid and Timothy Vann;a daughter, Janie Marie Brown; son, Gene Roland Brown; grandson, Jason Eugene Brown and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Brown.

Mrs. McWhorter is survived by a son, Dean J. Brown; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila Marie and Mac Massey; daughter-in-law, Dale Brown; sisters, Bonnie Croy and Patricia Morgan; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. McWhorter will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Barrett officiating. Interment will follow in the Bandy Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Justin Shaw, Justin Adams, Chad Nix, Damion Fawbush, Taylor Long and Lucas Pledger. Honorary Pallbearers will be Josh Brown, Shaun Massey, Brent Chambers, Charlie Nix, Collin Massey, Alex Shaw and the residents and staff of Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. McWhorter will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour.
