A Summerville man said someone illegally opened a credit card account in his name, according to Chattooga County Sheriff’s reports.
Ted Simmons received a letter from a collections company claiming that he owed on his Capital One credit card account.
“Mr. Simmons said he has never had a Capital One account. However, the company said that whoever opened it used all of his information,” Deputy Nicole Sprague said. “Mr. Simmons has no idea who would do this to him.”
The account was opened in May 2016 and it has a balance of $762.67, according to a report.
