Mamie Irene Keeney Green
Mrs. Mamie Irene Keeney Green, age 92, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, February 24, 2019, in a local health care facility.
Mrs. Green was born in Edwardsville, AL on November 27, 1926, daughter of the late Robert Henry Keeney and the late Sarah Annie Coggins Keeney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Nathan Green on June 30, 1982, by 5 sisters, Mattie Lockridge, Carol Keeney, Jennie White, Hazel Wilson, and Maybelle Sharp, and by a brother, Robert Keeney. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for many years with Valley View Nursing Home here in Rome. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living member of Unity Baptist Church.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Sandra Byrd (Walter), Rome, and Carol Byrd (Frankie), Taylorsville; a son, Kenny Green (Myra), Summerville; 5 grandchildren, Shane Blake (Ashley), Rome, Ansley Clonts (Robby), Rome, Stephanie Lovingood, Rome, Britny Reece, Taylorsville, and Kristin Byrd, Taylorsville; 3 sisters, Shirley Howard, Silver Creek, Ruth Bowman, Lindale, and Jackie Black (Buddy), Cartersville; a brothers, Harold Keeney, Cartersville; 6 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at 11am in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Mac McCurry officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Monday from 5 until 7pm.
