Joseph Dexter Ledbetter
Mr. Joseph Dexter Ledbetter, age 98, of Rome passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019, at a local hospital facility.
Mr. Ledbetter was born on June 30, 1920, in Menlo, GA, son of the late James David Ledbetter and late Myrtle Mariah Rose Ledbetter. He was a graduate of Summerville High School and a veteran of the United States Navy Air Force. Mr. Ledbetter was a member of the Armuchee Church of God and prior to retirement in 1983, was associated with the Georgia Department of Labor. He was preceded by two sisters, Nora Bell Davis and Ethel Pledger and by two brothers, Everett Ledbetter and Gene Ledbetter.
Survivors include three children, Dorothy Womack (Geston), Cedartown, Martha Fuller (Jackie), Summerville and David Ross Ledbetter, Rome; four grandchildren, Michael Womack (Deanna), Cedartown, Randall Womack (Kena), Cedartown, JamieRose Ledbetter Endfinger (Jonathan), Rome, Jennifer Nicole Ledbetter, Lawrenceville; six great-grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, Jewel, Cole, Kyle and Layla; sister, Evelyn Hughes, Summerville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at 2:00 PM, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Izell officiating and the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presenting military honors. Interment will follow at Bankhead Cemetery in Mentone, AL.
