Report: Teenager On LSD Tosses Rocks At Summerville Cop
A teenager claiming to be under the influence of an illegal hallucinogenic drug lunged at a Summerville Police officer, threw rocks and tried fleeing Sunday night, according to arrest reports.
A Summerville police officer stopped a black Chevy two-door vehicle near the intersection of Hwy. 114 and Hwy. 100. Suddenly a teenager jumped out of the passenger side. Initially, he didn’t go far because he fell face-first into the ground.
“The male, later identified as Riley Daniel of Bogart, jumped to his feet and charged toward me in an attacking manner but stopped just short of me,” Officer Lebron Jackson reported.
The 18-year-old refused to lay on the ground when ordered by the officer.
“Mr. Daniel was screaming and acting in a delirious state. When backup officers arrived, Mr. Daniel ran from [me] toward Old Mill Road. [I] gave chase and at one point Mr. Daniel grabbed a large handful of rocks and threw them at me striking me in the face and chest area. I knocked Mr. Daniel to the ground and with the help of other responding officers was able to place him in cuffs,” Officer Jackson stated.
The teenager allegedly confessed to using LSD (Lysergic acid diethylamide), according to an incident report.
Daniel was arrested for obstruction of an officer and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, according to jail reports.
