18 Chickens Killed; Woman Cited For Leash Law Infraction

A neighbor’s dog broke into an outdoor enclosure and killed 18 chickens early yesterday morning, according to Summerville Police reports.

Adama J. Jones, of Scoggins Street, said a small black and tan dog broke into her chicken pen. Eighteen chickens were killed, according to Officer Lt. Tim Fulmer.

“The dog had somehow been trapped in the pen and was still there when I arrived. . .” Officer Fulmer stated. “Animal control was called to the scene at which time they took possession of the dog. I then made contact with the dog’s owner, Candice N. Barber, who was subsequently charged with the city ordinance of a leash law violation.”
