Available Now: Layaway Funds For Your Upcoming Property Taxes

Chattooga County Citizens can now begin making payments to be held in escrow and applied toward their tax bill for 2019 property taxes, according to Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton.

“This is completely optional for our citizens- up to 75% of the amount of the 2018 tax bill can be paid toward the 2019 tax bill, and receipts for the amounts prepaid will be issued by my office,” Hampton said. “I am very excited to be able to offer this much-requested service to my citizens. Again, the prepayment plan is optional, and not mandatory. Many citizens have told me that the ability to make prepayments toward their tax bills will make it easier for them to get their bills paid in full by the December 1st due date. . . I would again like to thank Senator Jeff Mullis for sponsoring Senate Bill 216, which made this option possible for our citizens, and also Representative Eddie Lumsden for helping to see the bill through.”

Now if u could stop going up on our taxes, every year! Be awesome, not like wages go up every year. 8.00 to 10.00 a hour been the norm for over 15 to 20 years.

Also, why do we need our septic tanks pumped out? If our water been cut off for 6 to 12 months?
In order to get our water cut back on? Craziest scam out there. Who comes up with this stuff? Plumbers??? Not like anything could be in ur septic tank, after a year or longer. Bugs would have ate it all.
    Water would had evaporated. Right?
Am i missing something? Please educate me. Been plumbing for 35 years.. Matter fact my home of 30 years, has never been pump out.
Sad bunch of people, who passes these law’s. To a already oppressed bunch of citizens.
    Just another money racket..
