William Robert Dendy
Mr William Robert Dendy, 50, passed away on Thursday July 4, 2019 on a golf trip with
friends in Highlands, NC. Mr. Dendy started work with his father and brothers at Dixie
Dye and Chemical in the 1990s and later founded Dixie Color. Just this year he was
pleased to see the opening of his latest enterprise, Dixie Specialty Yarns which just
opened a new manufacturing plant near Trion, GA.
Mr. Dendy wrestled in high school and college and became involved in youth wrestling
founding a program in LaFayette with his brothers David and Lee. In 2001 he began
coaching LaFayette Middle School, wrestling and coached the team to numerous
championships with his daughter Maddison who helped him by working as stat keeper. His
work with the middle school team and assisting his brother Lee was integral to many
state team and individual title wins for LaFayette High School. After he moved to
Chattanooga, he stayed involved with wrestling and watched his son Ethan win a state
title at McCallie and his nephews wrestle with teams at Baylor. He was extremely proud
of his daughter Maddison upon her graduation from the University of Georgia and
Culinary School in New York. He loved the outdoors and in his free time made many
trips around North America bow-hunting, enjoyed playing golf, and spending time on the
water and playing Zelda with his son Benjamin, who shares his love of animals. He was
extremely grateful that Benjamin recently received a donor liver and would have been
pleased to know that he was able to give back as an organ donor.

Dendy, sons Ethan Dendy and Benjamin Dendy, mother Kay Dendy, stepfather-in-law
