Police Chase Ends On Taylor’s Ridge

A Summerville cop chased a fleeing vehicle from the city limits on Hwy. 27 to the top of Taylor’s Ridge around 1 a.m. on July 2, according to an incident report.

Officer Matt Wilson clocked a black 2009 Nissan Murano traveling 50 in a 35 mile-per-hour zone. Wilson started chasing the car south on Hwy. 27 toward the ridge.

“The vehicle traveled approximately 2-3 miles before stopping on Hwy. 27 on top of Taylor’s Ridge,” Officer Wilson stated.

The cop identified the driver as 31-year-old Ampiah Quainoo, 31, of Harvest, Ala.

“I asked Mr. Quainoo why he did not stop when the blue lights and sirens came on and he stated he was trying to find a place to pull over,” Officer Wilson stated.

Quainoo was arrested for fleeing or attempting to elude officers, driving while license is suspended or revoked, failure to maintain a single lane and speeding, according to an incident report.
