Dog Attacks: Resident Is 23rd Animal Bite Victim This Year

A 51-year-old Summerville resident was attacked by a dog while on Hawkins Drive around noon Friday, according to a police report. Her case makes the 23 animal bite incident reported to Chattooga County Animal Control this year.

Polly Darden was walking around Hawkins Drive when a “red dog” ran onto the roadway and bit her on the left ankle. The bit caused a small open wound in Darden’s ankle, according to Summerville Police Officer Lt. Tim Fulmer.

“Animal control was called to the scene and continued the investigation at the time of the report,” Officer Lt. Fulmer stated.
