(Updated) James Michael “Mike” Ratliff
Mr. James Michael “Mike” Ratliff, age 73, of Lyerly, GA, died Friday, August 9, 2019, at his residence.
Mr. Ratliff was born January 30, 1946, in Rome, GA, son of the late Sanders Linton Ratliff and Ethel Estelle Kelley Ratliff. He was a member of the New Hope South Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Wheeler’s Lumber Company where he served as Fleet Manager and Vehicle Acquisition Manager. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ratliff was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Joan Henderson Ratliff; sisters, Doris Everett and Patsy Wiggins; brothers, Charles Ratliff, Duane “Red” Ratliff, and Kelley Ratliff.
Mr. Ratliff is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Brandi and Jason Harris: sons and daughters-in-law, Shane and Emily Ratliff, Bobby and DeAnna Ratliff, and Billy and Mitzi Ratliff; grandchildren, Carter Montgomery and Branson Ratliff. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Ratliff will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 12, 2019, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Brown officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope South Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Shane Ratliff, Jason Harris, Gary Teems, Bubba Huskey, Adrian Nichols, and Bobby Ratliff. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Cavin, Greg Henderson, and Paul Brison, Mose Adams, Richard White, Alan Green, Jimmy Clark, Shawn Henderson and Michael Montgomery.
Mr. Ratliff will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the New Hope South Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, care of Richard White, 566 White Farm Road, Lyerly, GA 30730.
