Robert Edward Hughes, age 59 of Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the Floyd Medical Center.
Mr. Hughes was born in Trion, Georgia on November 19, 1959, son of the late Ernest Gordon Hughes and Doris Jean Crowe Hughes. He was a member of the Berryton Baptist Church and was the former manager of the Summerville Domino’s Pizza. Robert loved the Lord and loved to play the piano. He was an outstanding pianist and played for several gospel groups including the Pine Hill Boys, King’s Messengers and the Just One Band. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Henry and Sarah H. Powell Hughes; his maternal grandparents, Finn Mathis Crowe, Sr. and Lorena Belle Keith Crowe; and a grandson, Jonathan Nathaniel Hughes.
Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife, Cynthia K. “Cindy” Hughes; son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Katie Hughes; daughter and son-in-law, Keri and Mark Pike; brothers, James E. and Nancy Hughes; Mark and Martha Hughes and Alton and Nancy Hughes; sister, Shirley Hughes Marks; grandchildren, Brooklyn Thrasher, Malachi Hughes, Eathen Hughes, McKinsey Hughes, Dixie Hughes, Caleb Pike and Mason Pike and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services for Mr. Hughes will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. in the New Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. David Pettyjohn and Rev. Joey Cowart officiating. Private Interment will follow.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mr. Hughes’ nieces and nephews.
The family of Mr. Hughes will gather at the New Antioch Baptist Church Saturday, where they will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the service hour.
