Man Tries Fleeing Cops While Handcuffed
A Chattooga County resident tried fleeing cops last night while handcuffed on Rainbow Trail, according to a Summerville Police report.
Christopher L. Wedgeworth, 25, of 871 Ben Mosley Circle, Gore, was visiting at a residence on Rainbow Trail when he allegedly became intoxicated and asked to leave. Wedgeworth refused to leave. He even refused to leave when cops arrived, according to Summerville Policeman Ricky Van Pelt.
Since Wedgeworth refused to leave, cops handcuffed him and arrested him for disorderly conduct. As Wedgeworth walked toward a patrol car, he bolted toward Scoggins Street and then darted behind homes, according to a police report.
“Sheriff’s deputies located Wedgeworth getting into a vehicle driver by his mother approximately a half block away still in handcuffs,” Van Pelt reported.
Wedgeworth was arrested for disorderly conduct, obstruction of an law enforcement officer and escape, according to reports.
