Rev. Marvin Grady Perkins, Jr.

Rev. Marvin Grady Perkins, Jr., age 87, of Lyerly, GA, died Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Rev. Perkins was born December 14, 1931, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Marvin Grady Perkins, Sr. and Daisy Dean Wofford Perkins.  He was a member of Sardis Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed for over 30 years with the United States Department of Agriculture.  Rev. Perkins was also a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in the Korean War, and was an ordained Minister.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Carr Perkins; brothers, Charles Wesley Perkins and Alfred Lamar Perkins; sisters, Helen F. Perkins and Bobbie Jean West; and a brother-in-law, Randy Allen.

Rev. Perkins is survived by his sister, Doris Allen; brother and sister-in-law, George E. Sr. and Linda Perkins; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Rev. Perkins will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 24, 2019, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewayne Teague, Rev. Sanford DeBerry, and Rev. Barry Brown officiating.  Interment will follow in Moseley Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be nephews.  Honorary pallbearers will be Robert “Duggan” Brown, Gary Howell, and the members of Sardis Baptist Church.

Rev. Perkins will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday.
