Gary Don Smart

Mr. Gary Don Smart, age 66, of Gaylesville, AL, died Sunday, September 29, 2019, at his residence.

Mr. Smart was born July 31, 1953, in Menlo, GA, son of the late Buford Franklin Smart and Myrtle Lou Messer Smart.  He was employed with Mohawk Industries.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Rayford Smart and Alvin “Bud” Smart; sisters, Joyce Smart, Deborah Smart, and Angelia Smart.

Mr. Smart is survived by his son, Michael Smart (Brandi Harrell); daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Tom Miller; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn and Denny Gelgut, Barbara and Dow VanPelt; and grandchildren, Nicholas Flood, Caylie Miller, Lindsey Smart, Gavin Miller, and Brody Miller.

Memorial services for Mr. Smart will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 4, 2019, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim VanPelt and Rev. John Dow VanPelt  officiating.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Mobbs, Mike “Fuzz” Parker, John Dow VanPelt, Denny Gelgut, Dow VanPelt, and Harold Woodall.

There will be a gathering of family and friends at Mason Funeral Home from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Friday.
