Scammer Claims To Be From Social Security Administration

A Summerville resident became another victim on a telephone scam on Thursday afternoon, according to police reports.

Dan Price, of Summerville, received a call from someone claiming to be from the Social Security Administration. He gave them his social security number and then they asked him for money. They tried convincing him that he was trouble and if he paid now, he could get out of trouble. He then realized it was a scam. Officer David Westbrooks told him to call the Social Security office and report the possible breach of his social security number.
