(Updated) Sherrie E. (Gentry) Helton

Mrs. Sherrie Gentry Helton, age 56 of Summerville, GA passed away late Tuesday- October 22, 2019, at Redmond Regional Regional Medical Center.

Sherrie was born March 4, 1963, in Trion, GA to the late Robert and Sarah Wells Gentry. She was a member of the Chattooga High School Class of 1981and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Berry College. She also received her Commercial Driver’s License from Walker Technical
Institute. She had a giving heart and spent a lifetime helping others succeed serving as a Chronically Mentally Ill Counselor, social worker, and job coach. She was retired from DFACS, Enhancing Capabilities, and was a former Truck Driver. Sherrie was very creative and enjoyed nature, reading, hand-crafting jewelry, and riding motorcycles with her husband, Steve.

 Sherrie is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Steve Helton; brother, John (Teresa) Gentry; nephew, Will Gentry; niece, Eryn Gentry; along with several aunts, cousins, and friends.

A service to celebrate the life of Sherrie will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday- October 26 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Odom & Rev. Don Knowles officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 AM until the service hour.
