Cabe Wins Menlo Seat

The city of Menlo’s attorney has decided that Cara Cabe is the winner of Tuesday night’s election for seat two.

As of press time yesterday, the winner in a three-way race for council Seat Two was unknown.

Joy Phelan, Michael Welch and Cara Cabe were seeking that position. It was left vacant by the late Virginia Welch who died several months ago while in office.

Out of the 66 ballots issued in Menlo, the breakdown of votes are:
* Cabe with 26 votes.
* Phelan with 25 votes.
* Welch with 15.

Attorney Chris Corbin was checking to see if Menlo’s city charter requires a candidate to obtain a majority of votes (50-percent of the votes, plus one).
