It’s starting to feel a bit like a police state with all the roadblocks that the SPD likes to throw up around town for no particular reason. Someone should do something about it. I guess in a way I am. Maybe if they patrolled and got out of cars and walked a beat crime could be cut down on. Used to have bicycle cops here. Instead we have cops parking in hidden spots to raise revenue from speeding and taillights out, seatbelt violation, etc. Or sitting at Jim’s, the stores. And Manning various roadblocks . How are cops supposed to prevent crime sitting in a vehicle with Windows up. Get out, walk the streets. Talk to people instead of hassling us at roadblocks that are barely constitutionally allowed and ripe for civil rights abuses. I’m not a fan of cops. Many aren’t. The cops have no one to blame for shifting public opinion but themselves. Hiring poorly educated, antagonistic power tripping youngsters who treat every call and every encounter with the public like it’s Fallujah, not Summerville , Ga.
