Local Preparing To Launch CDC Program For Diabetics

UGA Cooperative Extension agent Rebecca Brewer-Thomas is launching a program that is aimed to help Type 2 diabetics.

There are only 20 slots available so the year-long program will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The program is called Prevent T2.

“This program is proven to be the most effective program for individuals wanting to prevent the chronic disease of diabetes and ones overall health,” Thomas stated.

Extension Service will be hosting this program beginning in January 2020. It is a year-long program which is designed to meet weekly for 16 weeks and transitions to meeting every two weeks for two months and then to once a month.

For individuals who are interested, I have scheduled two, lunch-n-learn programs to learn more about the program and how it will be a benefit to them. The sessions will be held at the Chattooga County Agricultural Center from noon – 1:00 PM and are scheduled: Monday, December 2, 2019 and Wednesday, December 18, 2019. Theses Lunch-N-Learns are FREE. I just ask that you call the extension office to reserve a seat and for meal preparation. If these dates do not work with individuals who maybe interested, they may call the extension office at 706-857-0744 for program details.
