In the newly renovated section of East Washington Street in Summerville, there are 8-10 black metal poles with nothing on them. They are scattered randomly along the block. Originally, the city experimented with placing a solar-powered lamp on top. The decorative lamps did not work properly because the current Georgia Power streetlights already light the area up. Last week City Manager Janice Galloway mentioned the poles will be used to hang banners. Other officials said there is no power running to these poles.
