(Updated) Leroy Alexander Jr.

Mr. LeRoy Alexander, Jr., age 83, of Centre, AL, (formerly of Summerville, GA) passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019, at his daughter’s residence in Cave Spring, GA.

Mr. Alexander was born September 13, 1936, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Lee Roy Alexander, Sr. and Thelma Wood Alexander.  He was a member and former Elder of First Presbyterian Church, and prior to his retirement, he had owned and operated Alexander Café and Shamblin Hardware. Mr. Alexander was also a veteran of the United States Army having served in Korea.  He was also retired from the Summerville Fire Department.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Margie Keith Alexander; and a son, Michael Alexander.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Tricia Lee (Mark) Headrick; a sister, Dora Ann Lanier; sister-in-law, Marie (Bruce) Cordell; brother-in-law, Charles (Sandra) Keith; grandchildren, Ross Alexander and Kaitlyn Alexander; great-grandchildren, Raylee Kate Lamb and Kyzer Ace Lamb; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services for Mr. Alexander will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 21, 2019, at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Fuller and Rev. Joel Smith officiating.  Interment will follow at Summerville Cemetery with military and fire department honors.  Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Woodard, Jimmy Barron, Ross Alexander, Mark Weaver, Butch Lanier, Scott Lanier, Steve Lanier and Gordon Little.  Honorary pallbearers will be John Walton, Mike Webb, and the members of the Summerville Fire Department. Mr. Alexander will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Saturday.
