North Georgia Cruisers Aids 90 Kids

The North Georgia Cruisers provided Christmas for 90 families in Chattooga County on Saturday and delivered food to the Hope Rebirth Homeless Shelter on Friday this year.
“We talked to the lady in charge at Home Rebirth and she said they were in need of some adult bikes so the people can go put in applications or go to work,” David Burkhalter, President of the North Georgia Cruisers said. “We have some bikes that we are going to carry over there to help them out.”
He said the club has had a good year and the local businesspeople have been real good to them and donated money and items.
“We are greatly appreciative to them and we have “passed it on,” Burkhalter said.
He said that at one of their cruise-ins the club had in August, a lady was there that was buying shorts, food and buying raffle tickets for items.
“She walked up to me and said, I know you probably don’t remember me,” Burkhalter said. “You see that girl over there and she is not little anymore. Several years ago, we had nothing, and if it hadn’t been for ya’ll, (North Georgia Cruisers) we wouldn’t have had anything. We are good now and I paid it back and I am going to pay it forward. That is what it is about.”
Families would come in and register and then get the toys that the members had bought. They were then able to pick out other gently used toys that were donated to the club. There were also some bicycles that had not been asked for and set aside and kids that came in if they needed a bike could pick one from those that were set aside.
Some clothes were also available for families.
The North Georgia Cruisers used the facilities of the Summerville Pentecostal Worship Center for the Christmas toys giveaway.
